Lele Modise is the Group Chief Legal and Regulatory Affairs Officer. Prior to this appointment, Lele held the position of Group Chief Legal Counsel. Given the strong interdependence between the Legal and Regulatory functions, Lele’s responsibilities will now extend to also lead the Regulatory function.
Lele joined MTN from Absa, where she was the General Counsel for Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB), which included the regulatory function. In addition to her role as General Counsel (CIB), Lele also established and led Transaction Management which supported the delivery of end-to-end deal execution services, consisting of legal structuring and solutioning, and post-deal management services. Lele was also acting General Counsel for Wealth, Investment Management and Insurance at Absa, whilst still continuing with her role as General Counsel for Absa CIB.
Lele began her career at Bell Dewar & Hall (now Fasken Martineau) and was admitted to the High Court as an attorney in 2003. She went on to be a Partner at Bowman Gilfillan, specialising in Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions, Banking and Finance, and later became the firm’s head of its Private Equity Practice.
Lele is skilled in the areas of capital markets and securities law, banking and finance, corporate and commercial law, mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Lele has also worked extensively across Africa on transactions across her areas of specialisation.

Accounting and finance. Ferdi joined MTN Nigeria in 2003 as the General Manager of Financial Operations. Ferdi was also previously COO at MTN Irancell and most recently CEO at MTN Nigeria.
To reinforce the implementation of our strategic priority to create shared value and the integration of ESG at the core of our business, Nompilo Morafo has been appointed as the Group Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer, effective 1 February 2022. Prior to this appointment she held the position of Group Executive responsible for this function.
Nompilo’ s main areas of focus are on decarbonising; rural connectivity; greater diversity and inclusion; enhanced stakeholder management; and protecting digital human rights.
Nompilo joined MTN in 2019 from LafargeHolcim, where she was the Country Director for Communications, Public affairs and Sustainable Development. Prior to this, Nompilo was Vice President for Sasol’s International Exploration and Production business spanning across various countries based in Mozambique. Her experience in corporate affairs, country management and sustainability spans more than 20 years in sectors including financial services, mining, oil and gas and now telecommunications.

Skills, expertise and experience
Paul has been an Executive at MTN since 1997. He has spent 20 years in the field of human resources and has worked extensively in the transport and telecommunications industries.
Kholekile joined MTN in 2016 from RMB, where he led the equity-based financing business and was responsible for financing solutions and M&A execution.
Kholekile’s experience and leadership capacity is important to the group’s portfolio optimisation drive, itself key to the strategy. This includes the asset realisation programme, which aims to reduce debt, simplify the portfolio, reduce risk, improve returns and take advantage of expansion opportunities.
Chika Ekeji joined MTN in March 2021. Prior to his appointment as the Group Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, he led the establishment of MTN Group’s continental National Roaming business, the launch of the Group’s flagship Advanced Analytics workbench platform, and helped shape the Group’s strategic direction across a range of key topics.
Before joining the MTN Group, Chika led the West Africa Digital Practice for McKinsey & Company, where he focused on Digital Business Building and operational transformations for telco, financial services, and public sector clients.
