At MTN GlobalConnect we are creating the largest pan African Infraco and largest PaaS (platform as a services). The Senior Manager Project Management will be accountable to support the GM Strategy & Business Development for the execution of strategy, programme management of strategic projects, drive operationalization and integration of new subsidiaries and oversee the management of GlobalConnect’s OpCo customers.

The role will lead high visibility projects that impact the growth trajectory of GlobalConnect as one of the key enablers for executing and accelerating the execution of the Strategy.

The Senior Manager: Project Management will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

  • Ensure effective execution of the strategy in adequate structure, frameworks, models and by using digital planning & reporting tools
  • Act as GlobalConnect program/project architect by mapping all requirements to facilitate project/program developments in line with objectives (prioritization, timing), resources and approved business cases
  • Deliver a holistic view for other MTN GlobalConnect departments to integrate in their plans (corporate master planning for consistency)
  • Coordinate multi-functional workgroups/workstreams in order to meet delivery expectations and solve potential roadblocks
  • Permanently review and suggest way-of-work for effectiveness
  • Drive business integration in new entities and scale up for maximizing opportunities and time-to-market
  • Lead MTN GlobalConnect Strategic Planning to reach/exceed its ambitions
  • Business & operational retro-engineering, reducing uncertainties while identifying/maximizing opportunities (mid-to long term plan)
  • Provide inputs & recommendations / escalate issues to ensure all actions are aligned to the business plan and strategic intent
  • KPI Tracking, Balanced Scorecard (digital capabilities)
  • Recommend improvements for (integrated) operating model between MTN GlobalConnect and FibreCo’s with a focus on the adequate ratio cost efficiency/revenue generation
  • Support the planning of the annual budget of each function, in alignment with finance

Supervisory / Leadership / Managerial Complexity:

  • Further build and maintain a team of experts, strongly engaged for value (co-)creation
  • Stimulate creativity, innovation
  • Support the definition of the divisional KPAs and KPIs that will be cascaded down to each area, while stimulating to go beyond the objectives
  • Assist in Performance management and identification of training needs within the function
  • Build professionalism, loyalty and strong commitment to the organization
  • Communicate actively and effectively resolving any potential

Job Requirements


  • Minimum 3-year Academic Degree
  • Post graduate qualification (MBA/CA/Masters) preferred
  • Project/Programme management qualification(s) preferred
  • English required; another international language (as advantage)


  • 8-10 years of experience across project/programme management, post-merger integration, strategy, finance or other relevant functional areas
  • Minimum 5 years managerial experience in telecommunications industry
  • Work across diverse cultures and geographies
  • Proven track record of project/programme management
